Prayer Times in Macapá, Brazil

The prayer day in Macapá

Today runs to roughly 12 hours and 6 minutes of daylight in Macapá, from sunrise at 6:05 am to sunset at 6:11 pm. None of the five are fixed to the clock — they follow the sun, and the sun keeps different hours in every month.

The shape of the day

Fajr is at 4:52 am — early, and in darkness. You have until 6:05 am, when the sun comes up. Dhuhr 12:08 pm, Asr 4:29 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 6:11 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:41 pm. That gives Macapá roughly 12 hours and 6 minutes of daylight today.

How the times are worked out

These times follow Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

Ramadan timings

Suhoor closes at 4:52 am in Macapá, with iftar at 6:11 pm. Roughly 13 hours and 19 minutes, going by today's figures. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

Through the year

Macapá is close enough to the equator that the seasons barely register in the prayer times. Longest day and shortest day differ by very little, and Ramadan feels much the same whichever month it lands in.

The direction of prayer

From this city the direction is east-north-east, or 69° if you prefer the number. Makkah is around 10,098 kilometres (6,275 miles) away in a straight line. If you are marking a permanent direction in a room, check true north rather than trusting a phone compass alone.

If you are travelling

There are 50 more Brazil cities here, and each has its own times rather than sharing Macapá's. The list under the timetable below will take you to any of them.
