Prayer Times in Serra Negra, Brazil

Serra Negra, hour by hour

There are around 12 hours and 55 minutes between sunrise and sunset in Serra Negra today. None of the five are fixed to the clock — they follow the sun, and the sun keeps different hours in every month.

How the times are worked out

These times follow Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are largely settled across methods; Fajr and Isha are where authorities part company. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. A small gap between this page and your nearest masjid is nothing to worry about; go with theirs.

For tahajjud

From Isha to Fajr is around 8 hours and 14 minutes at the moment. If you pray tahajjud, the final third of that stretch is the one to aim for; counting backwards from Fajr is the easier way to locate it.

Fasting hours

Suhoor ends at Fajr — 4:02 am today — and the fast breaks at Maghrib, 6:18 pm. Around 14 hours and 16 minutes without food or water today. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

Finding the qibla

Face east-north-east — roughly 69° on a compass — and you are pointed at the Kaaba. The distance works out to about 10,571 kilometres, or 6,569 miles. Compass apps usually read magnetic north rather than true north, so allow a few degrees of local declination if you are setting a prayer mat precisely.

The shape of the day

Everything begins with Fajr, 4:02 am today. Sunrise at 5:23 am closes that window. Dhuhr follows at 11:50 am once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 4:24 pm. Sunset brings Maghrib at 6:18 pm; Isha is the last, at 7:48 pm. That is some 12 hours and 55 minutes between the sun coming up and going down.

Through the year

Serra Negra sits far enough from the equator for the difference to be felt. Midsummer stretches the day, midwinter compresses it, and the prayer times follow.
