Through the year

There is not much of a yearly swing here. Daylight hovers around twelve hours all year in Solânea, keeping the whole timetable within a narrow band.

How the day runs in Solânea

Fajr opens the day at 3:43 am, well before first light. By 4:57 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Dhuhr follows at 11:06 am once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 3:29 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 5:17 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 6:47 pm. That gives Solânea roughly 12 hours and 20 minutes of daylight today.

The fasting day in Solânea

Suhoor closes at 3:43 am in Solânea, with iftar at 5:17 pm. Roughly 13 hours and 34 minutes, going by today's figures. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

Isha to Fajr

Solânea gets roughly 8 hours and 56 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

Method and madhab

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

The clock against the sun

Solar noon in Solânea falls about 54 minutes before twelve o'clock. It explains the 11:06 am Dhuhr — the timezone boundary is drawn some way from this city's own meridian. It is not an error — timezones are drawn for administrative convenience, not astronomical accuracy.
