Prayer Times in Casper, United States

Praying in Casper

In Casper the clock tells one story and the sun another, which is why the times below may look odd at first glance. True midday arrives some 49 minutes after what the clock reads, putting Dhuhr at 12:49 pm and dragging Asr, Maghrib and Isha along behind it.

From this city the direction is north-north-east, or 33° if you prefer the number. Makkah is around 12,073 kilometres (7,502 miles) away in a straight line.

How the times are worked out

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

If you are fasting

Suhoor closes at 5:59 am in Casper, with iftar at 6:00 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 1 minutes, going by today's figures. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

What changes between summer and winter

The yearly swing here is substantial. In June, Fajr in Casper can fall in the small hours with Isha holding off until late evening; in December the whole day from Fajr to Isha is over in a short span. Check the monthly timetable rather than assuming last season's times still hold.

A walk through today's times

Fajr is at 5:59 am — early, and in darkness. The window stays open until sunrise, 7:37 am. Dhuhr follows at 12:49 pm once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 4:18 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 6:00 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:30 pm. That gives Casper roughly 10 hours and 23 minutes of daylight today.
