Prayer Times in Dallas, United States

The prayer day in Dallas

The direction of prayer from Dallas is east-north-east, or 57° if you are using a compass app. That is roughly 10,407 kilometres in a straight line. The times themselves are worked out from the city's exact position.

Why Dhuhr lands where it does

True midday in Dallas arrives some 48 minutes after what the clock reads. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:48 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

Method and madhab

Calculations come from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr here follows the Hanafi reckoning, which places it noticeably later in the afternoon than the other schools would. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

From Fajr to Isha

The day's first prayer, Fajr, falls at 5:57 am. You have until 7:33 am, when the sun comes up. Midday brings Dhuhr at 12:48 pm; Asr comes round at 4:20 pm. The sun goes down at Maghrib, 6:01 pm, and the day ends with Isha at 7:31 pm. That gives Dallas roughly 10 hours and 28 minutes of daylight today.

The night in between

From Isha to Fajr is around 10 hours and 26 minutes at the moment. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

Through the year

Dallas sees a large seasonal spread — very early summer Fajr times, a very late Isha, then a tightly packed winter day. The month view below is the reliable way to keep track.

If you are fasting
