Prayer Times in Grove City, United States

What these times mean for Grove City

Praying in Grove City means facing a point roughly 10,992 kilometres off, around the curve of the world. The bearing works out to roughly 52°, or north-east — a great-circle direction, not the one you would draw on a flat map.

Ramadan timings

Stop eating by 6:24 am; break the fast at 6:34 pm. That is about 12 hours and 10 minutes on today's times. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.

From Fajr to Isha

The first call comes at 6:24 am, for Fajr. By 7:58 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. Dhuhr follows at 1:16 pm once the sun has tipped past its highest point, and Asr at 4:53 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 6:34 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 8:04 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours and 36 minutes.

The yearly swing

The yearly swing here is substantial. In June, Fajr in Grove City can fall in the small hours with Isha holding off until late evening; in December the whole day from Fajr to Isha is over in a short span. Check the monthly timetable rather than assuming last season's times still hold.

For tahajjud

Grove City gets roughly 10 hours and 20 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. If you pray tahajjud, the final third of that stretch is the one to aim for; counting backwards from Fajr is the easier way to locate it.

A quirk of the timezone

The sun reaches its high point roughly 76 minutes after noon here. Hence Dhuhr at 1:16 pm, with the rest of the afternoon following along behind it. Nothing is wrong with the calculation; timezones are political lines, and the sun does not consult them.

Where these times come from

The calculation used here is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.
