Prayer Times in Franklin Park, United States

About the times on this page

From Franklin Park, the qibla points east-north-east — a bearing of about 58° on a compass. That is roughly 10,361 kilometres in a straight line. The times themselves are worked out from the city's exact position.

Method and madhab

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. Methods differ mainly over Fajr and Isha, because each authority settles on a slightly different angle of the sun below the horizon — a few minutes either way is normal. Asr is Hanafi on this page, so expect it later than a Shafi timetable would show. Where your local mosque differs, follow the mosque — that is the timetable the congregation keeps.

Ramadan timings

Suhoor closes at 5:52 am in Franklin Park, with iftar at 5:56 pm. Roughly 12 hours and 4 minutes, going by today's figures. The monthly table further down shows the window widening or narrowing day by day, which helps when planning meals a week ahead.

A quirk of the timezone

Solar noon in Franklin Park falls about 42 minutes after twelve o'clock. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:42 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

What changes between summer and winter

Franklin Park sees a large seasonal spread — very early summer Fajr times, a very late Isha, then a tightly packed winter day. The month view below is the reliable way to keep track.
