Prayer Times in Fort Meade, United States

About the times on this page

Praying in Fort Meade means facing a point roughly 10,599 kilometres off, around the curve of the world. At that range the great-circle route matters: the qibla from here runs east-north-east, about 57°, which surprises people expecting otherwise.

Through the year

Summer and winter look like different timetables entirely in Fort Meade. The times can shift by several hours between the two ends of the year.

A quirk of the timezone

Solar noon in Fort Meade falls about 51 minutes after twelve o'clock. That is why Dhuhr sits at 12:51 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. It is not an error — timezones are drawn for administrative convenience, not astronomical accuracy.

A walk through today's times

The first call comes at 6:00 am, for Fajr. You have until 7:32 am, when the sun comes up. Midday brings Dhuhr at 12:51 pm; Asr comes round at 4:28 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 6:08 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:38 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours and 36 minutes.

Where these times come from

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

Fasting hours

Stop eating by 6:00 am; break the fast at 6:08 pm. That is about 12 hours and 8 minutes on today's times. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

For tahajjud

Between Isha at 7:38 pm and Fajr at 6:00 am there are about 10 hours and 22 minutes. If you pray tahajjud, the final third of that stretch is the one to aim for; counting backwards from Fajr is the easier way to locate it.
