East Manchester today, prayer by prayer

Everything begins with Fajr, 6:01 am today. By 7:35 am the sun is up and Fajr's time has passed. After the sun peaks, Dhuhr is prayed at 12:50 pm, and Asr at 4:24 pm. Maghrib is prayed at 6:05 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:35 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours and 30 minutes.

The clock against the sun

True midday in East Manchester arrives some 50 minutes after what the clock reads. Hence Dhuhr at 12:50 pm, with the rest of the afternoon following along behind it. It is not an error — timezones are drawn for administrative convenience, not astronomical accuracy.

Season by season in East Manchester

East Manchester sees a large seasonal spread — very early summer Fajr times, a very late Isha, then a tightly packed winter day. The month view below is the reliable way to keep track.

Isha to Fajr

Between Isha at 7:35 pm and Fajr at 6:01 am there are about 10 hours and 26 minutes. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

How the times are worked out

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

Fasting hours

Stop eating by 6:01 am; break the fast at 6:05 pm. That is about 12 hours and 4 minutes on today's times. Scroll to the month view to see how the length changes as Ramadan progresses.
