Prayer Times in Homestead, United States

About the times on this page

Prayer times for Homestead, United States are calculated from where the city actually is (25.47° N, 80.45° W), which matters more than people expect. Two towns an hour apart see the sun rise at different moments, and since Fajr and Maghrib follow the sun rather than the clock, those minutes carry straight through to the timetable.

Method and madhab

Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah is the standard applied to this page. Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib are largely settled across methods; Fajr and Isha are where authorities part company. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. A small gap between this page and your nearest masjid is nothing to worry about; go with theirs.

For tahajjud

Between Isha at 8:12 pm and Fajr at 6:09 am there are about 9 hours and 57 minutes. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.

If you are fasting

Suhoor ends at Fajr — 6:09 am today — and the fast breaks at Maghrib, 6:42 pm. Around 12 hours and 33 minutes without food or water today. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

The yearly swing

The seasons show here without dominating. Summer in Homestead brings earlier Fajr times and a later Isha; winter pulls everything inward, and Maghrib can arrive while the afternoon still feels unfinished. Expect an hour or two of movement between the extremes.

A quirk of the timezone

Solar noon in Homestead falls about 65 minutes after twelve o'clock. That is why Dhuhr sits at 1:05 pm rather than just past midday, and it carries through to Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well. Nothing is wrong with the calculation; timezones are political lines, and the sun does not consult them.

Lining up with the Kaaba

Face east-north-east — roughly 57° on a compass — and you are pointed at the Kaaba. The distance works out to about 11,727 kilometres, or 7,287 miles. Compass apps usually read magnetic north rather than true north, so allow a few degrees of local declination if you are setting a prayer mat precisely.

How the day runs in Homestead

It starts in the dark, with Fajr at 6:09 am. You have until 7:29 am, when the sun comes up. Dhuhr 1:05 pm, Asr 5:06 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. Sunset brings Maghrib at 6:42 pm; Isha is the last, at 8:12 pm. That is some 11 hours and 13 minutes between the sun coming up and going down.
