Prayer Times in Miami, United States

The prayer day in Miami

Sunrise 7:41 am, sunset 6:25 pm — about 10 hours and 44 minutes of daylight in Miami today. Prayer times are anchored to the sun rather than the clock, so as that figure grows and shrinks across the year, every time below moves with it.

Season by season in Miami

Miami sees a large seasonal spread — very early summer Fajr times, a very late Isha, then a tightly packed winter day. The month view below is the reliable way to keep track.

The fasting day in Miami

Stop eating by 6:11 am; break the fast at 6:25 pm. That is about 12 hours and 14 minutes on today's times. The full month is listed below if you want to see where the fast is heading.

Finding the qibla

Turn north-east, about 44°, for the qibla. Makkah is around 11,979 kilometres (7,443 miles) away in a straight line. If you are marking a permanent direction in a room, check true north rather than trusting a phone compass alone.

Miami today, prayer by prayer

Everything begins with Fajr, 6:11 am today. The window stays open until sunrise, 7:41 am. Dhuhr 1:03 pm, Asr 4:46 pm — the two that carry the middle of the day. Maghrib is prayed at 6:25 pm as the light goes, then Isha at 7:55 pm. Sunrise to sunset, today runs about 10 hours and 44 minutes.

Why Dhuhr lands where it does

Solar noon in Miami falls about 63 minutes after twelve o'clock. Hence Dhuhr at 1:03 pm, with the rest of the afternoon following along behind it. This catches people out regularly, but prayer follows the sun, and the clock is only the label we put on it.

A note on the method used

The underlying method is Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. The disagreement between methods lives almost entirely in Fajr and Isha, where the sun is below the horizon and the chosen angle decides the time. For Asr this page uses the Hanafi position — later in the day than the majority view. If the mosque down the road announces something a few minutes different, pray with the mosque.

The night in between

Miami gets roughly 10 hours and 16 minutes of night between the last prayer and the first. For anyone praying tahajjud, the last third of that period is the part traditionally singled out — work back from Fajr rather than forward from Isha to find it.
